Obituary of Patricia (MacNeil) Gallant, Glace Bay

Patricia (MacNeil) Gallant Glace Bay It is with great sorrow the family of Patricia (MacNeil) Gallant announce her passing at home on January 18th, 2020. Patricia had just recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Patricia was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University, class of 1953. She taught school in Glace Bay and New Waterford. On September 3rd, 1955 she married David Gallant. Patricia was a Third Order Carmelite and a devout member of St. John the Baptist Church. She served as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Ladies Guild. Patricia was the only daughter of the late Michael J. MacNeil and Mary M. O’Keefe. She was predeceased by her husband, David J. Gallant along with three brothers, Rev. Col. Reginald G. MacNeil, Rev. Bernard J. MacNeil and J. O’Keefe MacNeil and her sister in law, Catherine MacNeil. Patricia was survived by five daughters, Ann Marie, Alanna, Anita, Adele, Pat and a son, Bernard. Also surviving is John MacDonald who Patricia considered a son and brother to the family. She will be sadly missed by a nephew, Donald MacNeil, niece, Marie Edwards, nine grandchildren, Bradley, Craig, David, Donald, Cathy, Sarah, Nicole, Amy, Kevin and four great grandsons, Noah, Brady, Knox and Nash. We extend a thank you to the staff of the Cancer Center of the Regional Hospital, Palliative Care and the VON for their care and support. Visitation is Tuesday, January 21st from 2-4, 7-9 pm in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel and Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Duaine Devereaux is Wednesday at 10 am in St. Anne’s Church followed by a reception in the church foyer. Interment at a later date in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
