Obituary of John Mossop, New Victoria

This day, January 19, 2020, is a very sad day for us, the family of John Mossop of New Victoria, as God took him home today. John was born in New Waterford on November 20, 1929. He was a son of the late Clem and Sarah Elizabeth (Harker) Mossop. Da spent all his working days in several coal mines. When Da wasn't working, he would take his family and friends to his favorite place, his cabin in Framboise, where many good times were spent. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going on long rides in the country. Da will be remembered most of all for his Great Sense of Humor. He is survived by four sons, Terry (Joanne), Stephen (Paula), Robbie (Nadine), David (Barb); one daughter, Lisa; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and daughters-in-law, Mary, Liz and Faye. Da was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary; two sons, Stewart and Gary; brother, Clem; sisters, Katie Mossop Roper and Doris Mossop Langer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22 from 6-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 23 at 2 p.m. in All Saints Memorial Church, New Waterford, with Rev. Dorothy Miller officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to All Saints Memorial Church, New Waterford.
