Obituary of Eda 'Trudy' Cull, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eda Gertrude 'Trudy' (Smith) Cull on February 20, 2020 at Northside Community Guest Home. She died peacefully with her family by her side. Born in Springhill, N.S., July 27, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Arlie and Lois (Colbourne) Smith. Trudy was a teacher for over 30 years in Liverpool, Springhill, South Bar and New Waterford. She became a 'Reading Specialist' for the New Waterford school system and raised her family in New Waterford; one girl and one boy. In later years, she moved to her 'bungalow' in New Campbellton and eventually retired there. She was an integral part of Calvin United Church and Calvin U.C.W. of which she was a lifetime member. Besides her parents, Trudy was predeceased by step-mother, Annie; husband, James; son, Michael; brothers, Percy, Gordon, Floyd and siblings, Gerald and Catherine in infancy. Trudy leaves to mourn her daughter, Patty (Rob) Woodfine; grandchildren, James (Naomi) Woodfine and Jennifer (Stephen) Fraser; great-grandson, Jason; sister, Linda (Doug) Hill. Many thanks to the Northside Community Guest Home and their staff. We appreciate their kindness and care for Trudy. It means a great deal to us to know she was well cared for. She was a good mother, friend, grandmother, and sister. Rest in peace. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26 from 6-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Funeral Service will take place Thursday, February 27 at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Rev. Duncan Roach Fellowship Room. Burial will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or Calvin United Church. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
