Obituary of Evelyn Leona Penney (Purdy), New Waterford

Our dear Evelyn passed away April 2nd, in Palliative Care, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Mother of Rebecca Penney, and wife of Dan Penney. She was born Jan. 26, 1963 to Gwelda MacMillan (Purdy) and the late Bill Purdy. She worked at the New Waterford Hospital and at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing with Dan and long drives in the country. Every year she looked forward to the Purdy Girls gathering at Christmas. She was a beautiful, soft and kind soul, and will be sorrowfully missed. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Dan Penney; her daughter, Rebecca Penney; mother and stepfather, Gwelda and Norman MacMillan; sisters, Janet (Joe) Currie, Leah (John) Guigon, and brother, Edward (Pam) Purdy. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.
