Obituary of Agatha Agnes Kelloway, Glace Bay
On Wednesday, April 15th, 2020, we announce with great sadness the passing of a wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother, Agatha Kelloway, age 88 at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay.
Mom was born in Glace Bay on Dec.18, 1931. She was a hairdresser in her earlier days. But her greatest and most cherished role was that of being a mother. Mom loved everything about being a mother and later on a grandmother and recently a great-grandmother. She relished in the times she spent with her grandchildren.
Mom and dad loved to go camping, fishing, and spent many days and evenings at the bungalow. They also enjoyed watching Saturday Night Hockey. Mom was a very kind and compassionate lady who would see the good in everyone she met. She was always on call for anyone who needed a drive to an appointment or had errands to run. She especially enjoyed her Saturday shopping outings with her friends or anyone who wanted to go, no one was excluded. No matter who she met she touched in a positive light.
Mom is survived by her sons, Jack, Kevin (Tonya), grandchildren, Matthew (Melanie), Bryan, Chris (Beth) ,Tyler (Alex), Maxwell, Ethan and Luke, great- grand children, Nova and Casey, sisters, Betty Sutherland and Delli Brewer, brother, Joe MacInnis (Kaye).
Also a very special thank you to her brother-in law, Murray and sister-in-law, Joan for your help and care, as well as the many neighbours, friends and relatives who came to mom’s assistance.
Mom was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Jack Kelloway in 2009, her parents, Art and Maddie (MacDonald) MacInnis, Wendy, a child at birth, brothers, Sonny, Junior and Harvey.
We would also like to give a special thank you to the staff at Victoria-Haven Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion over the last year.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Center, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 25/2020 at 10 am in Holy Cross Church followed by interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
Those who wish to make a memorial donation are asked to consider the S.P.C.A or the Diabetic Association. On line condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of earthly life, in particular for the life of my mother. I thank you for all the years I enjoyed with her. I praise you that she stood with me through the good times and the bad times. I cherish the memories of times of joy and times of sorrow. As she is now at rest with you, I thank you for the hope of a future in your presence that we will share together. Now may you, the Lord of Peace, give me peace at all times and in every way, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Agatha
