Carol Ann family and the Tighe family .
Gary and my connection was always about the cars.I have know Gary over 55 years as we were worked in the same industry and I was in and around the Lake when I was in my early teens. I would always get a vist from him never expected, he would just drop in the business for a visit and it was always a pleasure to see him !
If he felt you needed cheering up he had the knack to cheer you up just by looking at you,for sure he was a special person.
My Gary story is we were on a job in Newfoundland and someone mentioned that Gary was very sick on that job. I went down to the lobby to see him before he went to the hospital,he was sick!
Believe me the conversation was about me he was concerned that he never sees me around New Waterford anymore, and suggested to me that I should be at the festivities( Coal Dust Days) car show, etc .
He was really sick when he was making those statements thinking about others, that was the Gary Tighe that I knew. Gary I will be at those festivities this year in memory of you R.I.P.

So very sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. He was such a kind and generous man. A couple of days before I got married Gary called me to say he will be my driver with his old car....... he just did gestures like this and that’s why he was so loved.

I didn't know Mr Tighe well, but I do rememember a very special gesture of his kindness. An incident in a car as a 12 year old left me pretty much afraid to get in any vehicle. When I turned 16, I was terrified to get behind the wheel to practice for my license. Mr.Tighe spent a lot of time at the home of my friends parents. Each evening, while they would be playing darts, he would give my friends'(twins) his car so we could have turns slowly driving around the neighborhood in his car. We were 100% breaking the law but that didn't matter to him, he wanted us to have the car where I could get some practice:) I was literally frozen at the wheel with fear that first evening. But night after night it got easier and eventually the fear was gone and I got my license. I have never forgotten this kindness. My sincerest condolences to Mr. Tighe's friends and family.

My deepest condolences to the family. Garry was a brother to me through UA Pipefitters Steamfitters & Welders. He was my true friend & my mentor on my first trip out west to find work. He helped me more than words could ever express. I don't know what I would have done without him. We worked on many of the same jobs across Canada over 40 plus years from the West Coast to the East Coast & he introduced me to many people along the way. We had many a good talks & laughs. We built lots of refineries even off the job. I will raise my glass Bro until we meet again.
