David MacAulay, New Waterford

Obituary of David MacAulay, New Waterford

Sadly, we announce the peaceful passing of David Garfield MacAulay on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at his daughter's home in New Waterford. Born and raised in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Donnie and Pearl (MacDonald) MacAulay. Dave attended Central School where, as he said, sports meant more to him than academics. After spending some time in Toronto, Dave and his family returned to New Waterford and he was employed with Devco Railway where he happily enjoyed driving the coal train for many years. Dave was a carefree, generous individual who was always willing to share whatever he had; whether it would be advice or his possessions. He spent the better part of the past 15 years living in Halifax, making many new friends, especially at the Spryfield Legion, where his excellent pool playing skills were often on display. In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by a sister, Barbara, in 2012. Dave is survived by his children, Barbie (David), New Waterford, David (Candace), Toronto, Deanna (Lyle), Halifax, Cordell (Aleisha), Hammonds Plains; and grandchildren, DJ, Brandon, Rory, and Connor and a great-grandchild, Ryker. He is also survived by his brothers, Donnie (Jeannine), Halifax, Ronnie (Wendy), Eastern Passage and a sister, Carol (Sheldon) Brewer, Gardiner Mines as well as the mother of his children, Connie MacAulay, New Waterford. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. The family would like to give special thanks to Palliative Care, VON and the Heart Function Clinic. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
