Obituary of Marie McCarthy, New Waterford

Into the arms of God she walked. Marie McCarthy of New Waterford, age 81, passed away peacefully May 28, 2020. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Emma (Mahon) and John Gardiner. She celebrated 50 years of marriage with Basil. Marie was a member of the Parish Church of St. Leonard. She was also a member of the Pensioners' Club and the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit #217, New Waterford. Marie liked shooting darts and playing cards. She loved filling her days spending time with her family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for her grandsons and a special twinkle in her eye for Lily. She is survived by daughter, Gail (Blair) Roach; grandsons, Jason (Olivia) and Anthony (Jocelyn)and great-granddaughter, Lily; sister-in-law, Lorraine Gardiner. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Basil; brothers, Russell and Stanley. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass will be held in the Parish Church of St. Leonard at a later date.
