Obituary of Pauline Pearl Angot, New Waterford

Pauline Pearl Angot, age 96, passed away peacefully November 7, 2020 in Ryan Hall nursing home, Bridgewater NS. She was born July 1, 1924 in New Waterford where she lived until the age of 88. She then moved to the South Shore of Nova Scotia to be closer to family. Pauline was a coal miner’s daughter who grew up listening to her mother play violin and piano. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and was well known in the community for playing the piano at many social events and the organ at church. Pauline graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1945 and worked at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. She married Frank Angot in 1950 and was married for 33 years until her husband passed in 1983. Pauline loved to cook and bake for family and friends and her gatherings were known for great food and spirited sing-a-longs. Pauline also loved to play bridge and did so three nights a week well into her eighties. She also for many years held the position of secretary for the senior’s group, Aging Gracefully. Pauline had great faith and was known to say to her family in challenging times “leave it in the hands of the lord” which is how she lived her life and what gave her inner peace and contributed to her warm and loving nature. Pauline was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Pauline is survived by her daughter, Carmel; son, David (Erika); grandchildren, Mitchell, Brenden and Connor Zinck and Marissa Angot. She was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Jessie Gillis; husband, Frank; brothers, Bernard and Lloyd Gillis and son-in-law, Stephen Zinck. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
