My sincere condolences to all the family. Anita was a beautiful lady and friend. She spent many nights at Branch 3 with my mom Ruby, and the rest of the crew at her table. She is dancing now with Ruby, Marie, Martha, and Rita. They are together again. RIP Anita.

Irma and family:
I just learned of your Mom’s passing and wanted to send condolences to all of you. I have great memories of spending time at your home when we attended St. John’s School. Many hours of listening to music and solving the problems of “our” world. Your Mom was always welcoming and I remember her keen sense of humour. I did see your Mom from time to time at church ,whenever I was home for a visit. Always a great smile and interested in what I was up to. May your wonderful memories bring you comfort during this tough time. Take care.

Lots of good stories surrounding aunt Anita, but remembering this one, this morning, made me chuckle out loud.
She was visiting Toronto and we decided to bring her to the airport, just off Hwy 427 where planes landing fly right over your head.
Well, it wasn't quite the adventure she had in mind.
The 1st massive jet is flying towards us, getting closer by the second, as it was about to fly directly over top of us aunt Anita let's out a scream (and perhaps a curse) and dives to the ground.
This jet passes overhead, we look to the ground and see Anita laying there. All we could do was laugh and laugh.
We helped her up and she said something along the lines of "Lord Jesus, I thought it was going to hit us"!!
It was a good 200 feet above us !!
The ex and I laughed all day. Aunt Anita did eventually.
RIP Anita.
Godspeed
xoxo

To Anita's family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. I met Anita at St. John's Parish in New Aberdeen with my husband, the late Bernard Kelly. Anita was the greeter at the church. It was a pleasure meeting her every Sunday morning. She was a wonderful person who always had a smile on her face and something funny to say. We started to call her "Sister Anita". She would reply by putting her hands together in prayer and taking a bow. Anita is flying high with the angels and she is one of them. May she rest in peace.

I always thought of Aunt Anita as the "fun" aunt. She was never afraid to look silly in order to get a smile or a laugh.
I remember one time she came to Toronto for a "surprise" visit. Ma didn't know, and she was getting ready for....you guessed it...bingo. Aunt Anita hid in the closet for 10 minutes, until Ma finally opened the closet door to get her purse. Well, Ma screamed, called her a dirty b*tch, and they fell into each others' arms laughing and crying.
Aunt Anita had so much love, and in spite of the hardships she endured in her life, she always had a smile for you. We love you all the world, Aunt Anita, and you will be greatly missed.
I read this poem at Ma's funeral. I imagined her saying the words to us and it gave me comfort. I hope it does the same for you guys.
If tomorrow starts without me and I'm not here to see...
If the sun should rise and find your eyes are filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today...
While thinking of the many things that we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you...
And each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me, too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand...
That Jesus came and called my name and took me by the hand,
He said my place was ready in heaven far above...
And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart...
For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.
All our love,
Debbie & Lyssa

Irma and family...Anita was a lovely lady. I remember first meeting her only a few years ago ...we were actually at a service and I was gathering a couple of sandwiches on my plate. I was overhearing a conversation with two people, one of them being Anita. I was giggling to myself at her quick whit and knew I liked her instantly. Then Irma introduced me to her and i thought...I should have known that this funny lady was Irmas mom. Losing a mother I am sure is like losing a piece of yourself. But having the laughs and the memories you all have had with her will be such a gift in time to come. Please know that there are so many thinking of you at this very difficult time. For sure Anita is having a double scoop of ice cream in heaven....as she is fondly always remembered here. Love and hugs Tammy and Frank MacNeil
