My sincerest condolences to the family of Butch from a former childhood friend, baseball aficionado, and former resident of Mansfield St., currently living in Madrid, Spain. It is very impressive to read about the contributions he made, selflessly, to the community he loved. I remember going back to my hometown for the 50th aniversary of little baseball in Glace Bay in 2001 and enjoyed talking to him and listening to him belt out 'take me out to the ball game' as the band played. He was very engaging and helped me feel at home after many years away. Muchas gracias Butch.

Dear Sandra and family, I am so sorry. When I think of Butch I am inevitably transported back to my childhood at the ballfield where he was always joking with me about selling 50/50 or about my Dad or about why I wasn’t on the field showing the boys what was up. I always truly felt so excited when he was at the field and it was like Butch “saw” me. I hope that in these upcoming tough days you find solace in the many stories that will surface of how Butch enriched the lives of the youth in our town. Truly our time in Cameron Bowl was special and has always stayed with me into adulthood. He was a wonderful person and I am so sorry you had to say goodbye so soon.
