Obituary of Felicitas 'Phil' Hennessy, New Waterford
Felicitas Hennessy, of New Waterford, passed away peacefully November 21, 2021, just a couple months shy of her 90th birthday.
Born in New Waterford on January 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John A. McNeil and Emma (Murphy) McNeil. She loved bingo, enjoyed playing cards, and was truly gifted at sewing. Her meticulously crafted quilts and other treasures will be cherished for years to come. She loved to travel, whether by plane, train or automobile (occasionally a ship), near or far, she was affectionately known as the roadrunner. She will be remembered as a loving mother, a devoted wife, an attentive grandmother/great-grandmother, a generous friend and a loyal Catholic.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry; her daughter, Donna MacLeod; sons, Kevin, James and Vernon and her sister, Shirley Caufield.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Ann Head, New Waterford, Lois (Wayne) Gallant, Glace Bay, Karen Hennessy (Cory), New Glasgow; sons, Ronnie (Mary), Scotchtown, Gerald, Mira, John (Monie), New Victoria; son-in-law, Mike (Karen) MacLeod; daughters-in-law, Cathy and Laura; sister, Arlene Gapastione, California; brothers, Forbes (Pat), Ontario, Irvin (Shirley), New Waterford, Francis (Barb), Ontario and many adoring grand and great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, New Victoria. By request of the family, there will be no reception following the mass. Masks and proof of double vaccination are required at the church.
