Mary MacLean, a lifetime resident of Park Street, Glace Bay, passed away on Friday June 17th, 2022 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Joseph and Sadie (Caswell) MacLean.

Mary enjoyed a lifetime career in retail including Admond's Dairy, Sam The Record Man, and Toby's and Ein's. After retirement she became the "world's best babysitter" and friend for life with Stephen and Ben.

Over the years the Pace family and their children were much more than just neighbours for Mary, especially her best friends Shirley and Mitchell and Sarah who always held a special place in her heart.

Always active in local bowling leagues, Mary was an outgoing and very sociable person who was always willing to help anyone. She will be greatly missed by many close friends who were always just a phone call away.

Over the past seven years Mary had mobility issues but was able to stay in her home due to the kindness of family, friends and neighbours, especially Scott. Her home care workers and Joanne became friends, not just helpers.

Mary is survived by brothers Johnny (Donna) and David (Dorine), her sister-in-law Paula, as well as loving nieces and nephews Ann, Michael, Catherine, Teresa, Billy, Misty, Dana and very special cousin Rosanne Gillis.

She was predeceased by brothers Frank and Billy and her sister Catherine.

Cremation has taken place. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at 10 am in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay, followed by a reception in the church foyer. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery on Wallace Road with Fr. Duaine Devereaux presiding.
