Obituary of Bernard Samuel Dalton
We, the family of Bernard Samuel Dalton, regret to announce his sudden passing on November 24, 2016. Bernie was born on April 7, 1954 in New Waterford, NS to the late James and May (Kendall) Dalton.
Bernie was known for his love of hunting and fishing; hobbies he passed on and shared with his boys. He enjoyed spending time in the woods whenever he had the chance. Bernie loved relaxing by the campfire, under the stars. It was there that he felt closest to God. He enjoyed music of any kind, cooking for his family and supervising the boys while they worked in the garage.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Willena (Bullock) Dalton. Together they raised two sons, Bernie (Cheryl) and Darren (Jennifer) both of New Waterford. Bernie was also affectionately known as ‘Poppy’ to Megan (Brian Woodfine), Hannah, Jessica, Shawn, Brendon, Dawson, Cassidy, Mya, Alexa, Landen, and Zoey.
Bernie is survived by his sister, Edith (Allen) Cummings, New Waterford and his brothers, John (Frances), Windsor and Jimmy (Eva), Dartmouth. He is also survived by several brother and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a niece, Lisa Dalton, Dartmouth and a brother-in-law, Bob McCoull, Ontario.
There will be no visitation as per his wishes. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 257 Reserve St. Glace Bay. Burial will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness or a charity of one’s choice. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at:www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
