We were so saddened to hear of Uncle Johnny’s passing. No trip to Glace Bay was ever made without seeing Johnny. He was always at Grampy’s with a cup of coffee and ready to have a good chat. Us girls never left for home without a “little something”. He always made time to come to Mabou for “the time!” Whether that was a graduation a birthday or a wedding. Rest in Peace Johnny.

My condolences to Marg and the family. I always enjoyed when young Johnnie would visit because that meant fresh string beans for supper and a homemade rhubarb pie mom would make , of course he enjoyed moms fresh tea biscuits. Enjoyed he visits, he was gentle kind soul .

Q: What will you never forget about John?
A: I was saddened by the news of my cousin John's passing. My deepest sympathy to his family.
John and I did quite a few memorable things in our younger years. One event I will always remember was when he gave me a ride on his motorcycle. He drove at such a good speed I had to cling to him for dear life. But I must say it was a thrill of a lifetime!
Rest in peace, dear cousin John.

Sorry for your loss . John was a good guy, and was great at gardening. When I visited his home , he would show me his garden and his fruit trees. I would marvel at his produce production. You see I tried a small garden, but the hungry bugs put me out of business, so I gave up on gardening. My condolences to his wife, and family .He will be missed' , but you will have all the good memories to sustain you through your grief.

So Sorry to hear about John's passing. He used to camp on our property at Ingonish Harbour in the late 1960's during the Miner's Vacation. He was with the White Brothers and they camped bedside the Ingonish River. John loved to Fish and spent many hours fishing along the River. He was a good friend to all our family and often drove me to work. He was a very, kind, gentle soul and we never saw him since decades. May he rest in peace and condolences to all his family .

Uncle Johnny was a very kind and gentle soul. He lived a simple life. He enjoyed to pick berries and rhubarb in the fields. Johnny always made time to visit his siblings and their families. He always brought treats for his nieces and nephews and we’d race to the door when we heard his voice. We shared many laughs together, especially on “Grading Day”, when he loaded the Kelly kids into his car and off to the circus we went. He spared no expense to provide a full day of family, fun and food. Uncle Johnny spent the entire day watching us enjoy the rides and treats that he bought. He got so much enjoyment just observing us having fun. His generosity will never be forgotten.
Rest In Peace
Love,
Ron, Bernadette and Chelsea Gillis
