I knew Fred and his brother Gary well. The Reserve St King Edward St Gannon St and Sherbrook St gang used to hang out at Alfies store on Reserve St or many evenings on "The Log" across from St Mikes. A lot of good memories. RIP Fred.

Dear grampie
Its Marissa your favourite granddaughter just kidding I know you don’t have favourites. I miss you so much I was shocked when I found out that you died. I know you were lucky to live too 74 and you wanted to die before nanny, but I wish you could have been here a few more years. I will forever cherish are memories together my favourites memories were when we went outside and you started spraying me with the hose and I started sprayed you back. Also when I did a prank where I made you say butterfly and it was a paper roll and made you say wing wing like a telephone and a butterfly wing. Also When you blasted Jonny cash on full volume even though It was annoying I do really miss it. Everyone misses you even nanny knows your gone and misses you so much. Cape Breton won’t be the same without you It was kinda like a tradition how we would go see you and later I would go over nee nee for a sleep over and mom stayed with you. It will be weird without mom calling you ever night but I know you are watching us from heaven.
the Toronto maple leafs finally went to the second round that hasn’t happened in 20 years I wish you could have been here for that. My favourite part about grampie was how kind he was and his humour even if I was having a bad day or anyone else he would make us laugh with his funny personality when grampie wasn’t talking to his daughters or visiting his wife at the nursing home you could find him in his barn. Grampie was known for his dedication, he visited his wife Mary almost ever single day he would play her songs on the radio feed her with puddings and tea grampie would talk with his wife for a long time even though she can’t really talk back.
I wish I didn’t take your time for granted and gave you more hugs and kisses I am so sorry for that or anytime I was being rude or anything. Please look over all of us love you always i will never forget you

Grampy lived a long and simple life: never complex and always with good, honest intentions.
I would like to reflect on the person Grampy was.
I could stand here for the better part of the day and reminisce about all the stories Grampy was either part of or he told, and for those who knew Grampy, you understand how long those stories could be.
We will cover some of those, but overall I would like to remember the person Grampy was and what he has done for everyone he met.
Grampy was above all else a family man, followed very closely by storyteller.
Family man is a term not appreciated nearly enough these days. Today, there is more emphasis put on who we are and what we accomplish. Grampy though, was the epitome of how great and unselfish it is to put those in your family first.
Grampy Freddy never asked for much. he d drove plain, simple vehicles, lived in a modest home, and never took anything in life for Grampy.
Grampy spent the past 7 years visiting My nanny Mary in a funeral home almost every second day & called his Daughters (my mom and two aunts) almost three times a day every day because that’s what he lived he for. He also cared very much for me and all of his grandchildren ( Marissa,Blake, Peyton,Logan and Jaylee) Grampy would always tell us if we needed anything to give him a call and he would give us whatever we needed and whenever we needed it. Although Grampy would get on our nerves blaring Johnny Cash & Roy Oberson theres not a day that goes by where we don’t miss his voice telling us to turn up the volume up on his Cd player we will all miss our visits with Grampy as they all mean so so so much to us!
Grampy has impacted my life in so many ways and has taught me so many things.
A memory I have with my Grampy that sticks out to me is from two years ago, my Grampy hasn’t alwyas been In my life because he was technically my step Grampy but a year and a half ago he sat me down and said “ Nat I don’t want you to call me Freddy no more as I think of you and treat you like my own grandchild” this stuck with me because it showed me that Grampy really did love me and accepted me as his own.
Growing up I idolized Grampy for his kindness And gratitude towards others, Grampy was the first to help anyone in need for expample their is this one story that Grampy continuisally told “one time he was driving and seen this random girl driving hydroplane and breakdown in the poruing rain, most people would just keep driving, but no not Grampy. He pulled over got out of the car and helped her as best as she could to stay calm and waited with her until someone could come and help he fix her car.” This is one of many examples that shows how good of a man Grampy was & and I strive to be just like him in that sense. I’m going to miss him alwyas giving me a Toony every time I seen him, I’m going to miss his laugh, his Long & sometimes hurling stories, and lastly his comforting hugs.
Lastly I wanted to say one more I love you. I will continue to live my life in honour of you and continue to try and make you proud ❤️

remembering all the brother in laws getting ready for deer hunting and Freddy arrived and ready to go, except Freddy was wearing cologne which would be an issue lol. I just remember it was so funny as Freddy just laughed and laughed and said “what, don’t worry , it will be fine “
it was New Year’s Eve and Mary called indicating Freddy had to home so she instructed to not let Freddy in. So I decided I couldn’t just tell Freddy he couldn’t come in so I
locked the door and pretended to not be home. This turned out to be an issue as at Ma’s there was a Mail Box Drop slot in the door and I was sitting on the other side waiting for Freddy to leave, needless to say I wasn’t expecting Freddy to put his hand through the slot and it landed right on my head, followed by “ come on Tricia let me in “ lol so funny.
I really thought so much of Freddy. So gentle and sweet. I have never saw him not smiling. Wonderful brother in law.
RIP Freddy. Say hi to Ma for me.
