Obituary of Frederick John Mullins, Glace Bay

NOVEMBER 9,1948 – APRIL 27, 2023

With shattered hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Frederick (Freddie) John Mullins on April 27, 2023, in Glace Bay at the age of 74. Freddie was born and raised in Glace Bay NS, to Kathryn Gillis and Frederick Mullins. Freddie married his high school sweetheart Mary and they spent 52 years together building their loving family, Katherine (Rob) Hammer, Denise (Kenny) Dicks and Angela (Jonathan) Hunter.

Freddie was employed and worked his entire career at the Sydney Steel plant until it closed. In recent years Freddie dedicated his life to visiting his beloved wife Mary (Ma) in the nursing home. If “Ma” was having a good day, then Freddie was having a good day.

Freddie was an amazing husband, father, brother, son and grandfather. Freddie lived his life for his family. In Dad’s words “I don’t know what I would do without mom and my girls.” Freddie was a kind, gentle, soul that had an infectious joyful laugh that brought a smile to everyone around him. He loved spending time and making special memories with his family and grandchildren that were the world to him. Freddy loved staying busy by keeping up with the work around his home while listening to his favorite music “Loud.”

In addition to his immediate family, Freddie is survived by his brothers Shelly and Gary Mullins. He is predeceased by his parents Frederick Mullins, Kathryn (Gillis) Mullins.

Dad you left us too soon, we will cherish the time we had and feel blessed to have so many special loving memories with you. You’ll always be in our hearts, and will reminisce about you forever.

The funeral mass will take place on Thursday, May 4^th at 10 am. in St. Annes Catholic Church, 695 Main Street, Glace Bay, NS, followed by a reception in the foyer then burial in the parish cemetery.
