Obituary of Helen Sophia (Jessome) Charumski, Glace Bay
Helen Charumski, age 95 of Glace Bay passed away on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023 at her residence.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late William & Catherine (MacIntyre) Jessome.
Helen was a member of Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay.
Helen enjoyed bingo, knitting, baking, doing crafts, going to the casino and shopping at Walmart and Giant Tiger. She was a happy go lucky lady who loved her family and grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia “Pat” Charumski, at home, Mary (Frank) Parsons, Paula (Steve) Butler, Glace Bay, sons, Jim, Halifax, Joe (Gioroy), Vancouver, John Walter “Wally”, Bedford, sister, Sharon Boutilier, brother, Mickey Jessome and her son in law, Wes Murphy.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Francis (Juanita), Stephen (Doreen), Raymond (Amanda), Shawna (Jessie), Jennifer (Chris), Jonathan (Alanna), Ellen, Matt (Kristyn), Nicole (Chad), Kyle and great grandchildren, Colin, Taylor, Cameron, Audrianna, Ally, Ava, Marley, Avery, Briar and Breah.
Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, John, a daughter, Joan Murphy, five sisters, Grace, Molly, Josephine, Liza, Betty and two brothers, Angus and Henry Jessome.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning, August 26th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay followed by a funeral mass at Holy Cross Church at 11:00 am, then interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.
