Obituary of Patrick Blair Fortune, Dominion

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Patrick Blair Fortune, age 43 on Monday, August 28, 2023 at his home in Dominion.

 

Blair is survived by his loving mother, Veronica Fortune of Dominion and his three children, Jorja Martin of Dominion, Myles Martin of Sydney and Hannah Lilly Martin of Sydney.

 

He is also survived by his sister, Hannah Grant (Bradley) of Athabasca, Alberta and his niece, Abigail Grant and nephew, Leighton Grant. Blair is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him.

 

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Patrick and Hannah Fortune, uncles, Patty and Myles Fortune and his brother, Mark Anthony Fortune.

 

Blair worked in many occupations throughout the years as a truck driver, pizza cook, construction worker, meat plant worker in Alberta, fish plant worker, as a taxi driver, and a garbage collector.

 

In 2012 Blair was in a very serious car accident that left him paralyzed and he was cared for by his mother Veronica, aunt Eileen White and cousin Jessica White.

 

A special shout out to his homecare nurses, Barbie, Tara, Troy and Ray who loved and cared for him like he was their own.

 

We thank everyone for their kind words and support during this difficult time.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 2^nd, 2023 from 12 noon until 1:45 pm followed by a service at 2 pm and then a reception, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Fr Dan Boudreau presiding.

 

Cremation to follow with interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
