Obituary of Elizabeth Rodena LeCreuix, Tower Road

Elizabeth Rodena “Roddie” LeCreux, age 89 of Tower Road passed away on Sunday, November 5th, 2023 in Glace Bay Hospital.

 

Born in Glace Bay, June 25, 1934 to the late James Leo (Margaret Ann MacDonald) Bonner.

 

She was married for 67 years to her rock and the love of her life, Louis LeCreux. 

 

Roddie was a mother to eight children whom she adored with all her heart. In addition to the many taken under her wing throughout the years, she had 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

 

Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her daughter Margaret "Ann", son Louis Thomas "Tommy", siblings Buddy, Mary, Shirley and Grady.

 

Surviving are her husband, Louis LeCreux and children, Alex (Lynn) LeCreux, Frances (Gary) Wilson, Robert (Kim) LeCreux, Shirley (Roland) Hardy, Ted (Leigh) LeCreux, Cheryl (Andy) Veinotte; brother, Francis (Peggy) Bonner and daughter in law Grace LeCreux.

 

She is also survived by a very special long-time friend, Martina McKinnon; in-house Bingo Buddies Norma and Jackie Hardy; and hospital angel and friend, Joan Yates.

 

Roddie grew up in Caledonia and for the past 43 years made the family home in Tower Road. She loved playing bingo and researching the family tree, and especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

The family would like to thank the Cape Breton Regional Hospital 4B staff and Glace Bay General 3 West Wing staff for their care and compassion.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank Society.

 

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. At Roddie’s request there will be no visitation. A private grave side service will be held in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay, with Fr Norman MacPhee Presiding.
