My sincere condolences to Glen's family, I have many fond memories of Glen all through school. Our paths would cross every few years and we could always find something to laugh about. I remember in high school he got the nickname "Snapper" from all the boys.....I don't remember why...RIP Glen

Kim and Kendra, Matheson and Kavanaugh families, there are no words to ease your pain, and our only prayer is you take joy and comfort in the fond memories each of you have of Glen, as we do. Without our meeting Glen, the last 17 years of our lives in Halifax would not be what it is today. Moving from Moncton he went on a house hunt to ensure we could be in the same neighborhood; he and Kim opened their home to us to stay for weeks, and he was always there to move a piece of furniture, fix a nail or a loose board and give us a good laugh. Through this friendship our family got larger as his parents and Kim's, as well as their large circle of friends became ours. Today we give thanks for the years we had Glen in our lives and the joy and love he gave us. Friends are the family we choose and we are glad we chose each other. Rest peaceful dear friend and may you stay forever young.
Love Sue, Rob, Sarah and Mark

To Kim, and all the Matheson and Kavanaugh family members..My heartfelt condolences on your loss. An old tennis playing friend, I always found Glen a real good guy to be around, and like a lot of the guys, enjoyed the back and forth about whose hockey team was better, or sucked the most, whichever the situation called for. Admired his "older than his years" views also, those times when the conversation was more serious. Like a lot of old friends , never got to see enough of each other over the years, but when chatting, or kidding on FB, it almost always turned back to a case of the "Remember whens"? A real good guy, gone too soon. May he RIP.

Kim and Kendra,
It is with heavy hearts that we send our love and condolences to you at this difficult time. Glen carried a warmth and kindness and throughout the nearly two decades we knew him, he was not just a friend; he was part of our Halifax family.
He was a skilled woodworker, who had a craftsman's touch that turned ordinary pieces into works of art. We remember seeing his “passion” for playing the guitar, especially in the spirit of the music he loved including April Wine and his Cape Breton roots. Glen took pleasure in keeping you entertained, whether it was around the pool, by the campfire, or during the many years of dinner club; always in full costume.
Glen was the one who introduced us to the magic of the Zac Brown Band. He embraced life with zest, organized trips with the "Seth Aaron'' guys and cheered wholeheartedly for his beloved Bruins. He always let us know that his Cape Breton heritage was a source of pride, adding another layer to his life.
We are thinking of you and are holding you close to our hearts.
Much love,
Liz, Chuck and Kate

Our family wishes the Matheson and Kavanaugh family our deepest condolences on the loss of Glen. He was by far one of the best people I met ever and a great guy to grow up with as a friend. Glen helped this geeky kid to plug into the coolness of having an older brother like Bruce who introduced us to the band Boston, Saturday Night Live and the Red Sox. His love of the Bruins was immense and as a Habs fan was a source of great energy playing road hockey on Waterview Drive. We both agreed though that Bobby Orr was the greatest. Glen was always the wittiest of people with the most funny observations and New Waterford was the best place for funny observations and I was amazed at how many people he knew by name in town. He paid attention to people more than most of us and it stood out as to me as a great quality. We played sports together but most notably tennis. We were both guys that didn't have always the individual success but excelled as a team as doubles partners. We beat the best players around and he made me better as a teammate. Most important was the night I learned my father was dying, Glen sat out on his step at his house on the corner of Morley and Olive for 4 hours until midnight and helped me cope with the news. Something I will never forget. To Kim, Afred, Bruce, Tanya and Kendra, our family will never forget Glen. RIP buddy....Dave Angot and the Angot family.

To all of Glen’s Family and loved ones…
I have been thinking of Glen all morning since reading that he has grown his wings…
We first met so many years ago when he started in the tourism industry and the picture that you chose of Glen to share his passing is so how I remember him .. When Glen went into the trade show business a number of years back we became “competitors”.. May everyone be so blessed to have such a kind and fair person competing for business against you…
It is so ironic that it was through the passing of his father in laws brother Ray Kavanaugh I learned of the massive intertwining of humans that we both cherished.. Please know that my heart and prayers are with all of you …

Out mutual love of the Boston Bruins, first guy I knew who liked U2 and The Talking Heads, his quick wit, Junior Davis tennis tournaments, telling some players at the 16 and under Provincials in Halifax that his tennis racquets were "hand made" by a guy in New Waterford (the Chilly Special), travelling to The Iron Maiden/Twisted Sister concert at the Metro Centre. THAT trip alone could be a movie. We had so many laughs and some great memories. We only crossed paths mometarily over the years but each time it was like we hadn't missed a beat. Kim and Kendra...I am heartbroken for you both.

I don’t know how to begin this, other than to say I’m very sorry for your loss.
Glen was one of a very small group of friends who made me laugh so hard I cried and couldn’t catch my breath.
I knew one song by the band Boston before I met Glen. He introduced me to so many. I still listen to them all.
I think he also introduced me the movie Spinal Tap. It was rare for us to have a conversation without at least one Tap reference.
We shared a passion for the music of April Wine.
We repeated radio skits of The Champ so many times.
He was so much fun to be around.
It’s a shame he had such poor taste in hockey teams, but nobody’s perfect.
