Dear Emily, Brian, Nancy, family, and friends
It is sad learning of Roger's recent passing.
Though I left Port Morien a long time ago, I continue to enjoy return visits with relatives and friends.
On some of those occasions, I always enjoyed meeting Roger during my walking through the village. Roger always made it a point to stop to speak and catch up on stories and our friendship. A friendship that was developed during his family visits with Mr.& Mrs Ruben Miles next door to us on "the hill." Roger, was always interested in recalling our family members and how things eventually turned out for us and good friends from Port Morien. Reading of the impact Roger had on a young apprentice friend of mine (Gary Peach) spoke volumes about his caring for others. These are the moments that we will recall during these difficult times ahead. Our deepest sympathy, Gus & Shirley McDonald - Halifax

To the family, I offer my sincere condolences. I worked with Roger as an apprentice Carpenter with Maritime Builders. He along with Chester MacIntosh , instilled a in me a strong work ethic that I'll never forget. Those memories remain very strong and I am forever grateful for his mentorship. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
