Obituary of Roger Keith Ervin, Port Morien

We regretfully announce the passing of Roger Keith Ervin of Port Morien. He died at age 80 on February 10, 2024.  Roger passed away surrounded by his family after a battle with prolonged illness.

Roger was the youngest son of Stanley and Dorothy (Bown) Ervin.

He attended Gowrie School in his earlier years and later Morrison High School in Glace Bay. Roger went on to continue his education as a carpenter in a Trade School in Point Edward. Once he had completed his training, he first worked with Maritime Builders, and then with Joneljim Construction.

Roger was predeceased by his parents Stanley & Dorothy Ervin, brother John and sister Edna Ervin.

He is survived by his wife Emily and their children, Brian (Marina) and Nancy (Shane). He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Brian, Luke and Emily-Ann, sister, Vida and sister-in-law Anna, as well as his nieces and nephews, Karen, Valerie, Janet and Rod.

The visitation (12:00-1:45 p.m.) and service (2 p.m.) followed by a reception, will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay on Saturday, February 17^th, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia, and an organization the family feels strongly about.
