Joe's suffering is over and now is at peace with his son.
I find it most disrespectful that most of the above mentioned "family members" did not even speak to or support him in his final years of life. Nor did they visit him or even care about his decline in physical health.
Thank you to Mary for her love, support and kindness to Joe and making his last years of life happy and loving. It goes to show that family is the people you CHOOSE. not those related by name or blood.
My attendance at Joe's memorial in April will be out of respect for him and certainly not to see the rest of the people I am related to by blood. Joe is the only member (besides my Dad - Bernie - who is the best man of all others in this whole world) I can say who was kind and a decent human being. He deserves respect in death that he did not receive from his "family " in life.
From one of the unnamed neices... and ironically one of the only neices that actually spoke with Joe over the past years and understood his health challenges... and shared in his love of cats & hockey.
From: Shannon White - Edmonton, Alberta.

Sharon and I send our deepest sympathy to Joe's family on his passing. We met Joe through the Steelworker's and pensioners club. We played shuffleboard and darts with Joe. We also attended all the dances and socials at the club. We loved Joe and he was a good friend. We are heartbroken and we will miss him so much. He will always be remembered. He loved Sharon's lemon loaf and will be in her thoughts whenever she makes some. Rest in peace our good friend.
