Obituary of Daniel "Dan" Snow, Glace Bay/ Toronto

It is with deep sadness that the family of Daniel [“Dan”] Snow announce his passing on February 21st, 2024, at the age of 74, in Toronto.

Dan was born in Summerside, PEI, to Magdalen [Harrietha] and Sgt. Dan Snow, both of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

Dan obtained a Business Administration Degree from Saint Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, in 1972, and then moved to Toronto, where he worked at Toronto Pearson International Airport as a Senior Immigration Officer for 35+ years, a job he loved and where he formed many lasting friendships.

He is survived by his sister, Magdalen [Denis] Hamelin of Montreal / Saint Lazare and his brother, Albert [Tanya] Snow, in Calgary, and nieces, Danielle and Melanie Hamelin and Adam [Hali Wong] and Alana Snow, and grand-niece, Soli Lan Snow Wong.  Dan has many first cousins in Glace Bay [LeBlanc and Harrietha families] and Toronto [Harrietha and Ford families].

This obituary would not be complete without mentioning the Fab Four from Liverpool, as Dan was such a huge fan of the Beatles, and 1960s pop music.  Dan will also be remembered for his sense of humor. He sometimes would say that people were laughing at his “expanse”, in reference to his rotundness.

Magdalen and Denis Hamelin were of great support to Dan over the years, particularly recently with his failing health and appreciate the care provided to Dan at Age Care Pine Grove.

Cremation has taken place, and, as per Dan’s wishes, his ashes will be buried in a plot next to his parents in Saint Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Glace Bay.   An interment of ashes service will be held in Glace Bay in late Spring, with the date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the SPCA.
