Obituary of Dolores Geraldine Kennedy, Gardiner Mines

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dolores Kennedy, who departed this life on July 8th, 2024 at the age of 83. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Dolores was born on June 17th,1941 in New Waterford to the late Osty and Mary Watson. She grew up in New Waterford where she developed a lifelong love for working with the public and socializing.

Dolores was a devoted wife to Alex with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Together, they raised 4 children, Teenie, Robert, Karen, and Maureen. She was a loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

She was known for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and her unwavering dedication to her family. Dolores had a passion for playing crib and scat with her club, and for going to the Boisdale Beach where she loved to introduce everyone to her family and find a little information about their families. She was known as the Beach Warden.  Ma loved talking to people and spent many years working at Woolworths in New Waterford. She loved going to church and volunteered to do readings on a regular basis.

Dolores is survived by her children, Teenie (Barríe), Rob (Rhonda), Karen (Darrell), Maureen (Danny), grandchildren, Karen-Lynn, Jannette, Mary, Jaret, Connor, Emily, Robbie, Theresa, Sarah-Jean, Claudia, Stephanie, Joey, and Alexander and great-grandchildren, Watson, Kollins, Zoey, Parker, Myles, Olivia, Kingsley, her sister Marilyn (the late Jackie) Reid and many friends and nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Osty and Mary, her twin sister, Oblena (Tony-deceased), and her beloved Poppa, Gilbert Watson.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Victoria Haven staff for their compassionate care and love for Mom and Dad and our dear friend Jocelyn Hynes who has become an unwavering support for our parents over the last two years.

Dolores Kennedy’s legacy of love, kindness, compassion and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
