Obituary of John Oswald 'Ozzie' MacNeil, Jr., Scotchtown
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of John Oswald 'Ozzie' MacNeil, Jr. on July 29, 2024.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of John O. MacNeil and the late Irene (White) MacNeil.
He is survived by his children, Haley (Tyler) Reginato and Cole as well as granddaughter, Maddin; sisters, lovingly known to them as 'Toe', Tracy (Tony), Kim (Jason), Lynn and Marlene; special nephews, Connor and Matthew. He will be greatly missed by his close friends, Terry, Chili, Tony, Roddie and Wayne.
He was predeceased by his mother, Irene; sister, Shelley; brother, Gordie and two brothers in infancy.
Ozzie was a coal miner at an early age. Upon closure of the mine, he ventured out West and spent the last few years employed with Labourers Union, Local 92.
Ozzie was a unique individual and if you knew him, it was a privilege. He was a prankster by nature and you could always depend on him for a good laugh. He had a heart of gold. He loved music, nature, and spending time on his Harley driving to his cabin in Margaree. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private funeral service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, New Waterford. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
Special thank you to his friend, Wayne, for always being there for him. His friendship will never be forgotten.
