Charles MacLeod, New Waterford

Obituary of Charles G. MacLeod, New Waterford

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dad, Charlie Macleod, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at home with his wife by his side.

In his early life, he worked as a coal miner for 30 plus years. Charlie was involved in local politics and was a town councillor in New Waterford. He was also involved in many other organizations including St. Vincent de Paul, St. Michaels Men’s Club and was a life -time member of the K.O.C, New Waterford. In his younger years, he enjoyed horse racing, boxing, and baseball. Charlie loved to play guitar and sing. He always surrounded himself with music and friends. Our dad loved to laugh, joke and make everyone smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As children growing up, we were very fortunate to have our very own “Santa Claus”. He would dress up and drive around town on the fire truck making all who saw him happy and excited with his huge belly laugh of ‘Ho Ho Ho’.

He leaves behind a loving wife of 63 yearsTootsie, six loving children, Debbie (Lee), Charlene (Jack), Greg (Raylene), Darren (Jill), Gail (Anthony), Chuckie (Pauline); eight grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.

In following with Dads wishes, there will be no visitation.Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.
