When our children are taken from us, especially so suddenly, it upsets the natural order of life. It is a loss that stays with a parent forever.
There are often no words to console a grieving family. Words from loved ones and friends may sound hollow because your life has been forever changed, but theirs go on as usual. How can they possibly know how you feel? I have been in your shoes and it is devastating. It is unfathomable how you will ever function normally again, but you will because you will discover a strength you never knew you had.
You may feel numb as you go through the motions, smiling, greeting and thanking people, all the while praying you will get through the day. And although they do not truly understand the depth of your grief, they need to share, in some small way, how Stephen touched their lives, how he mattered and to assure you that he will be remembered fondly and lovingly.
Today, your grief may seem insurmountable, but your precious memories of Stephen will sustain and strengthen you in the difficult days ahead. Not today, nor any day soon, but there will come a day when you will feel that same joy as when Stephen came into your lives and you felt blessed.
The road to recovery may be long and winding, confusing, sad and physically demanding, so be kind to yourselves. Know that Stephen was loved and that others share your tragic loss.

Im deeply saddened the lose or your son and brother. My dear niece Holly and her family will miss him dearly.
