Obituary of Stephen Francis Grant, New Waterford

The most beautiful boy was welcomed into our family on April 30, 1992 weighing 9lbs. 15 0z., and right from that day, he was our sunshine.  He was the sparkle in his Mother’s eye, he was his Father’s pride and joy, and he was his sister’s beautiful new toy.  As he grew through boyhood into a wonderful young man, he continued to impress all whom came in contact with him.  We could not have been more proud of our beautiful boy.  His oldest sister, Alicia, was a second Mother to him and his sister Britney was one of his best friends.  He could count on those two for anything.

He was loved by many, but he held a special spot in the hearts of his grandparents who followed him from hockey tournament to hockey tournament for he had developed into a fine coachable young fellow who always wanted to exceed people’s expectations. 

Stephen was loving, smart, witty, loyal, kind, and thoughtful. Always a quite unassuming fella with an infectious smile, he could light up a room the moment he entered.  Anyone who came in contact with him wanted to continue a relationship because he made them feel joyful and valued.  He would do anything to make someone laugh or lift their spirits. He filled the hearts of those around him.

His grandfather and father instilled an impeccable work ethic and throughout his career as a pipefitter, he never ceased to impress.  His girlfriend, Holly Marie, whom he met in 2011, loved him unconditionally.  Her endearing love for him was evident to all who met them.  He was her “Mister”.

Stephen Francis is survived by his loving parents, Francis, Patricia (Bishop); his sisters, Alicia (Keith) Singh, Britney; nephew, Alec; maternal grandfather, Ernie Bishop, as well as girlfriend, Holly Marie Sinclair.  Also surviving are his uncle, David Grant, aunt Marion, cousin, Paul; his aunt, Debbie Morrison, uncle, Frankie, cousins, David, Natalie, and Leslie; uncle, Ernie Bishop, aunt, Tricia, cousins, Jack and MacKenzie as well as many great aunts, uncles, and numerous wonderful second cousins. 

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Alec and Bee Grant and maternal grandmother, Alma Bishop.

“We are all God’s children from the morning hour of birth; He lets us live and laugh and love, and have our day on earth.  He guards us through the afternoon till sunset’s rays are cast.  Then one by one with gentle words, He calls us home at last.”

Our anguish will cease in time, but our Love never shall.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 24 at noon in the Parish Church of St Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow. A luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, immediately following the funeral mass. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of V.J.McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at : www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
