Obituary of David Lyons, Grand Mira North/ G.B.
David Bruce Lyons
Grand Mira North
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brother and Uncle, David Bruce Lyons, 62, of Grand Mira North.
Born in Glace Bay, Davey was the son of the late Alice (Devison) and Dan Willie Lyons.
“Uncle Dude” passed at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Friday May 18th, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. In his earlier years, Davey worked for Simpson-Sears and later, as a proud Cape Breton Coal Miner, finishing his career at Prince Mine.
Davey was a jack of all trades. He built his home in Mira, almost single handily and completed many renovation projects for family and friends. Dave’s true “Happy Place” was the Mira River and boat rides on the “PT Cruiser” with family.
Davey is survived by his sister, Deborah Reid (Michael), Glace Bay, brothers, Thomas, Glace Bay and Leroy “Jr.” (Patsy), New Waterford; nieces, Alice Ross (Phillip), and Leigh Ann Arsenault; nephews, Michael Reid and DJ Lyons; grand nephews, Tyler, Parker, Michael and Jesse; grandnieces, Stacey and Gracie.
In keeping with Dave’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A family celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date.
Our family would like to thank the staff of the Cape Breton County Home Makers, VON, Northside General Hospital and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Outpatient and Palliative Care Units.
Donations in Dave’s memory can be made to the Hospice\Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
On line condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca
