It was with much sadness that I learned from my Mom (Maureen's sister, Colleen) of Maureen's recent untimely passing. On behalf of my spouse, Valerie, and my Mom, I offer my sincere condolences to all of the family, especially my cousins (Trudy, Bernie, Terry, Viola, Jamie, Shannon, Sean, Shane and Kathy). While it has been many years since I last saw Maureen, I have so many great memories of her. We often spent vacations in Glace Bay visiting Ma & Da Hurley in the Hub. It was always fun to visit Aunt Maureen and Uncle Mackie. Their house was always full of laughter and kids! Maureen was indeed the Queen Bee holding court at the kitchen table with her cup of tea. Her sense of humour, energy and laughter were infectious. I have particularly fond memories of Maureen getting all the kids to dance to the groovy sounds of Tommy Roe singing Sweet Pea and Billy Joe Royal singing Down in the Boondocks. We danced and laughed until our bellies hurt. While we are sad, and the days are bit darker without Maureen, we have so many great memories of her to brighten any gloomy moments. Her indomitable spirit lives on. Our thoughts are with you. Take care.

Dear MacLeod family, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. It's never easy to lose your mom no matter how old you are. I fondly remember many winter days skating on the rink that your dad had built beside the house. They are wonderful memories. Carrie Feaver Kennedy

I'm so sorry to hear of Maureen's passing. I can attribute my tea addiction to her - she always put a cup of tea in front of me whenever I sat at her kitchen table even though I wasn't a tea drinker in the beginning. I'm sure you will all be sharing memories over the next little while. My thoughts are with you. Take care.
